A new Intercity Express Trains will also be named after the first female MP
After a long campaign the bronze statue to celebrate Nancy Astor, the first woman MP to take her seat in Parliament, is taking shape.
The bronze for the casting has been poured and preparations are underway for the building of the plinth on which it will stand in Plymouth, where Mrs Astor was MP.
Alexis Bowater, lead campaigner for the statue to be erected on the Hoe, saw the casting of the bronze sculpture for the first time.
